Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis complained on Thursday that despite giving all kinds of concessions, including reducing premiums for the real estate sector, the prices of flats in Mumbai continue to rise.

Fadnavis said during a Credai-Mchi meeting that he had a complaint. “In the past ten years, all the things you asked us to do this would be affordable that we have made, but after those decisions have been made, house prices have only risen and not lowered. You asked us to lower premiums, but the house prices have not fallen.

Although house prices are not rising badly, because the money brought to the economy, Fadnavis said that if affordable housing is a reality, it cannot be as usual. At Bouwers he insisted on investing in the third Mumbai, which is being developed in the Atal Setu, and in the fourth Mumbai, which is being developed in the northern region of MMR around the port of Vadhavan.

Fadnavis said that the GOVT wants to develop the third Mumbai as an Edutech City, Innovation City, and 60% of the data centers. He said that 12 foreign universities will set up centers in the Edutech City, which will serve one Lakh students, creating a lively economy. MMRDA, he said, develops a municipality of 150 square kilometers and Cidco is building another municipality. He encouraged builders to do a joint venture with MMRDA in the region.

If Mumbai has to be slum -free, generation projects will not help, said Fadnavis, who encouraged builders to bring in new technology to speed up the slum rehabilitation. “If the country is cleared in one and a quarter, the building must be ready in one year. Only then will it be possible to make Mumbai slums free,” he said.
