MMRDA, he said, develops a municipality of 150 square kilometers and Cidco is building another municipality. He encouraged builders to do a joint venture with MMRDA in the region.
If Mumbai has to be slum -free, generation projects will not help, said Fadnavis, who encouraged builders to bring in new technology to speed up the slum rehabilitation. “If the country is cleared in one and a quarter, the building must be ready in one year. Only then will it be possible to make Mumbai slums free,” he said.
