In a bizarre sequence in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, Magic’s Desmond Bane ended up throwing the ball one-handed to the Knicks’ OG Anunoby, who had fallen to the ground out of bounds.
And it wasn’t like Bane had to save the ball or throw it from Anunoby – he had kept the ball in bounds with both feet and wasn’t off balance.
Anunoby pushed him and exchanged a few words with Bane, who suffered a technical glitch.
It came with the Knicks leading 91-80 after Anunoby was blocked on a fast break. The Knicks held on for a 106-100 victory.
He was then booed by the MSG crowd every time he touched the ball after that.
However, Anunoby laughed it off after the match.
“At first I was confused, then it became funny,” Anunoby said. “I like Desmond. … He’s a good guy.”
During the MSG broadcast, Mike Breen and Clyde Frazier were surprised by the move.
“There’s no reason for that, to throw it like that, to wind it up and throw it,” Breen said. “‘What are you doing?’ says OG Anunoby.”
“I’ve never seen that before…” Frazier replied. “That part looked very hostile, but it’s legal.”
