While some of these classic waterfront properties in Hobart are still used to store kayaks and fishing rods, others are furnished for luxurious relaxation.
At Boatshed No.34 on Queens Walk, the owners have invested significantly to make their little slice of heaven even more heavenly.
Cara Montgomery of LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property said the aim was to make the property as comfortable as possible.
She described it as an “unparalleled retreat”.

“The whole thing has been redesigned internally, with a complete overhaul of the previous interior,” Ms Montgomery said.
“They have also added glass railings to the terrace to protect it from the wind, with two swing doors providing access to the waterfront deck.
“One of the highlights is the Swedish sauna.
“The upgrades are beautifully done, it’s amazing.
“It’s listed under ‘Offering over $500,000, and if we reach that, it will be the highest sale price for a boat shed in Cornelian Bay.’

A carpeted upper loft provides additional space to relax.
The floor is made of low-maintenance wood laminate.
No.34 features high quality finishes and is immaculately presented.
“Every element has been carefully considered, creating a retreat that is exquisitely functional and undeniably luxurious,” said Ms Montgomery.
These 34 boat sheds in New Town are being bought and sold as buildings on freehold land, together with the Crown Leases for the water on which they lie up to the high tide mark. They are used for recreational purposes only.
The sheds were originally built in the 1840s, but most of those still standing date from the 1920s and 1930s.
In a normal year, there may be none or a small number of these properties available for purchase.
In September this year, No.36 sold for $460,000, just above its 2023 sales price of $450,000.
#1A sold last year and #11 sold in 2023, both for an undisclosed price.
Boatshed No.34 Queens Walk, Cornelian Bay, New Town is priced at “Offers over $500,000”.
