As I reported earlier today, Luke Schenn is open to a trade with a contender. Fairly early in the process, but something to keep an eye on between now and the trade deadline. thefourthperiod.com/jan-2026/schen…
In recent days, it has become clear that Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is not ready to call it quits this season. Despite being last in the league at 15-21-5, Cheveldayoff is reportedly looking to add more firepower, ideally a second-line forward.
“The interesting thing is we’re starting to hear about Luke Schenn, who played his 1,100th game with the Jets last night,” said Pagnotta. “I don’t know if this will be his last with the Jets, but I don’t know how many more runways there are if things remain status quo. There are rumors that Luke Schenn wouldn’t mind a change of scenery. He would be open to making a move.”“I don’t know if that’s related to how the team is performing, and he’s already been scratched a few times. I’m sure it’s all related. But the latest we have is that he hasn’t asked for a trade, but he’s open to a change of scenery, and that’s something the Jets are keeping an eye on right now.”
Schenn, 36, has a $2.75 million cap hit and will become a free agent in July. Through 28 games this season, he has one goal and four assists for five points. During his 1,100-game NHL career, Schenn has recorded 210 points (45 goals, 165 assists).
