Off-roaders are now so hot, so it is only logical that Lucid-a company that would try some of the best road to the road on the market with an adventurous vehicle. That is why the company established in Newark, California, showed its Gravity X (read: Gravity Cross) concept during a private event during Monterey Car Week; It will make his public debut at the Pebble Beach competition d’Elegance on Sunday.

The Gravity X has quite a few changes to ensure that it sniffs when it gets rough. Lucid reformed the front and rear facias of gravity with brushed metal elements to improve approach and departure corners, with slip plates and integrated towing hooks. It also broadened the trail of the vehicle, lifted the ride height and added adapted wheels with all-terrain tires. To further distinguish gravity x from the standard SUV, Lucid donated it with all kinds of orange accents that pop up against the astral drift satin paint of the showcar, and the hood has etched topographical maps of Big Sur and Death Valley.

Orange, are you happy?

Lucid’s newest creation also comes with what the company calls a “modular roof system”. It has integrated crossbars, LED light bars, a roof roof and accessory mounts in case you want to take your gravity X overland. It keeps the set-up seven seats of De Standaard Gravity, with the second and third row that can be folded completely flat, so there is more than enough room for your camping friends and all their nonsense.

On the inside, the orange theme continues with orange pipes and stitching, leather seats, a steering wheel with micro-dedicated with an orange insert at six o’clock and open-Pore Walnuthout Inlays. It also has “high-performance” floor mats with brushed metal impacts, and the sills have the coordinates of Pebble Beach.

More than enough performance

If the performance and reach are a concern for you while you are off-road, the Gravity X does its best work to suppress those fears. Lucid used a Gravity Grand Touring as a basis, so it has 828 hp and two engines to play with. That will be absolutely enough to make a road through an obstacle and to get it in just 3.4 seconds from 0 to 60 km / h. With 450 miles of the EPA-estimated range on the Grand Touring, it should also work well to get you very far away from the beaten track, although thanks to the thick tires the series of Gravity X is probably a bit lower.

Of course this is a concept vehicle, but you have to admit that it looks free of production. I can clearly not say this with certainty, but it would not surprise me if something very similar would actually go into production. It would not surprise me if it was very good. For the most part, if you take a car that is good to ride on a sidewalk and get off-road, you get something very solid.
