“The Hazlewood Express just keeps rolling into Laurel Park,” track announcer Dave Rodman exclaimed.
Another day saw three more winners for teenage apprentice riding sensation Yedsit Hazlewood, who started his big Sunday by booting Wild Warrior ($5) for trainer Gary Capuano in the second race, a $49,000 first-level allowance for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles.

Wild Warrior, a chestnut stallion by Improbable, was bred in Kentucky by Titletown Racing Stables and BRS. Under the guidance of Rose Petal Stable, he made his career debut on Oct. 18, racing a mile at Delaware Park.
Wild Warrior then finished behind Bala de Plata in his next two starts and faced that rival again this afternoon. Favorite Bala de Plata showed his usual early speed from the advantageous inside post position, but Hazlewood didn’t let him get too far forward.

Wild Warrior took on Bala de Plata at the seventh-sixteenth pole, and the pair took off over the next quarter mile before the former asserted his dominance for good. Wild Warrior covered the distance in 1:50.18 on the fast main circuit and won by 2 ¾ lengths from Bala de Plata.
Hazlewood then struck in the fifth race when Devastating ($5) exhausted the leaders in her first start for trainer Robbie Bailes. He completed his hat trick in the final by making a wide sweep in the second corner aboard My Dear Antonia ($4.20).
Hazlewood, 17, a leading candidate for the 2025 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey, has ridden at least one winner on each of the last 22 race cards at Laurel Park.
Hazlewood, a native of Panama, has a comfortable lead in the current Laurel Park jockey standings. Hazlewood finished the week with 62 meet winners, 28 more than veteran Jorge Ruiz.
Hazlewood rode his first career winner on April 4 and now has 116 wins from 522 rides, including five stakes scores. He won four races in the prestigious Jim McKay Maryland Million program and has enjoyed two additional four-win days since that coming-out party. His mounts earned $3,881,477 in 2025.
Thirty-one of those victories came in collaboration with Capuano, who has saddled the winners of 22 youth races this year.
Wild Warrior boasts a career earnings of $72,950.
