Idaho Central Arena was the site of Tuesday evening’s collision for the preseason between the Los Angeles Kings and the Utah Mammoth.
Both the Mammoet and the kings came with the set -up full of players on the bubble of making their respective NHL grilles. With only a week left for the regular season, it is now a crunch time for these players to present their talent and for management to make the difficult final decisions.
Summary
As you would expect in a game in which so many players fought for jobs, the pace of playing was high despite a tight control of the game. Halfway through the first period, the kings opened the score on a goal by Andrei Kuzmenko. Jeff Malott and Brandt Clarke helped the goal.
Although this was the only purpose of the opening frame, both teams had opportunities to add more. The kings could not convert into two power play opportunities in the frame, and the mammoth could not score on a partial chance of man benefits, with half of the power play that stretched out in the second period.
After he had not scored on the other half of their Power Play to open the second period, the Mammoet made a different goal, so Andre Lee a wrist shot was shot home from the slot, who defeated Karel Vejmelka’s glove. It was also his first of the preseason in his second game.
However, it was not long before it was mammoth to respond. Four minutes later, Cameron Hebig broke, who played a ton of minutes in this game, the ice for the mammoth. Nick Desimone and Daniil, but had the assists about the goal.
But it was not done there, at his next service he tied a wrist shot from the top of the left circle to bind the match 2-2, his second point in less than two minutes.
The rest of the second period remained scoreless and the Mammoet came out to dominate the puck in the third period. However, the kings finally received a clean outbreak and it led to the goal of Taylor Ward van de Haaster. It was Ward’s third goal of the preseason.
After they had taken the 3-2 lead, they did not look back and went off the game with a lead of one goal. With the victory, the kings go to 4-1-0 in the preseason, while the Mammoet remains profitless.
These two will be gone again in the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
