Fourth Period’s Dave Pagnotta joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio with Steve Kouleas and Martin Biron on Wednesday and was asked about the latest news Adrian Kempe and the Los Angeles Kings and where things stood Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers.

Steve Kouleas: “Speaking of money, money, money. Where did we go last week with Kempe? I had the Ken Holland clip in the interview, was all business. And Artemi Panarin with what’s happening and not happening on Broadway.”
NHL Rumors: The New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin
Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, well, I mean, with Kempe, I think it’s, excuse me, I think it’s status quo. I think they wanted to give themselves a breather. We talked last week, and like you said, you talked to Ken Holland about it. It’s no secret that both parties want to maintain the relationship. It is just a matter of going through the full negotiation process, which has yet to be taken up.
As for Panarin, I think the indicators are that he wants and would like to stay in New York. But they need to figure out what the term is in principle, and how the dollars are allocated based on the term. It doesn’t sound like a two- to three-year deal will really be formally considered by the Panarin camp; it seems that he wants to commit more time to it.
He is now 34 and will be 35. Is it a four year period? Is it a five-year agreement? What type of AAV are we talking about when we reach that point? That will be another eight-figure deal, I would have to imagine, with respect to the AAV, but it will all be subject to conditions. So I don’t think they’re there yet, I haven’t gotten that feeling yet. And at the same time, the Rangers also want insight into how on earth their season will go.
So you know some guys obviously wanted to do it sooner, and they did. Others are in a slightly different situation depending on where their team is. And even Alex Tuk in Buffalo, the update I got a few days ago was the status quo. There is nothing new to report.”
