The Dodgers named Roberts the franchise’s 32nd manager in late November 2015. Since then, the Dodgers have had nothing but success.
Here’s a look back at Roberts’ tenure with the Dodgers so far, and the surefire Hall of Fame track he’s put himself on.
Regular Seasonal Superiority
The Dodgers are easily the best team in the MLB since Roberts’ freshman year in 2016, going 944-575 (.621 winning percentage). The next best team is the Houston Astros, with a score of 890-627 (winning percentage of .587).
The Dodgers have finished with the best record in MLB four times. They have had at least 91 wins in every full season, and at least 100 wins five times.
Divisional dominance
The Dodgers have won the National League West nine times under Roberts, with their only second-place finish coming in a year in which they won 106 games (2021). They have played at least the divisional round in every postseason.
World Series wins
The Dodgers have reached five World Series under Roberts and were one of the last two teams to manage half of Roberts’ seasons.
The Dodgers were robbed of a World Series victory in 2017 against the Astros, who illegally stole signs. They then returned to the World Series in 2018, losing to the Boston Red Sox. Since then they have seen nothing but success.
The Dodgers finally ended their World Series drought in 2020, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games. They then established their dynasty over the past two years, defeating the New York Yankees in five games in 2024 and the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games in 2025.
Hall of Fame coming up
Roberts is in the Hall of Fame and could go down as one of the greatest managers in MLB history. Only eleven managers have won at least three World Series titles. Only two managers (Joe Torre and Tony La Russa) have more postseason wins than Roberts (69).
Roberts’ .621 winning percentage is the highest in National/American League history.
How much longer will Dave Roberts manage the Dodgers?
It’s safe to assume Roberts will have the Dodgers job for as long as he wants it. He has three years left on his deal, making him the highest-paid manager in MLB history in terms of average annual value. He has said he does not know if he will continue management after this contract expires.
