For years, animal rights activists ask and does not require the elimination of circuses that exploit animals, often exotic, for shows. And it seems that Lombardy has come to the point. The Regional Council approved a motion last Tuesday, of which Luca Paladini is the first signer of the Burgerpact. The motion also received support from the majority parties, with Lega and Forza Italia in favor of, while Fratelli d’Italia against.
The device is asked the region to prohibit animals in the circuses via a regulation that acts as a target text. At national level there is already a law – dating from 2022 – with regard to the removal of the use of animals in the shows. However, text that has never implemented without the relative decisions.
Paladini emphasized the difficult circumstances in which these animals live between training, limited spaces, versions and environments that are far from comparable to their natural habitat. “They develop stress, suffering from behavioral problems that can involve risks to safety and undermine the principle of civil coexistence and responsibility between human and animals social groups,” he explained. In short, a path that is only in the beginning, but that can actually lead to a solution.
