Women of Manchester United traveled to St. Helen’s Stadium to assume on an emotional afternoon after the death of Matt Beard Great Rivals Liverpool.
First half
United started the perfect start when they took the lead after just four minutes.
A Jess Park Cross was cleaned up and it fell on Hinata Miyazawa on the edge of the box.
The Japanese international made no mistake and shot the ball in the back of the net to lead Marc Skinner’s side.
Liverpool struggled to deal with United Energetic Pressing and Jayde Rivere fired a shot just off the post after 13 minutes.
United continued their positive start when Ella Toone’s in the cross in the far pole in the cross, but just widely drove.
Elisabeth Terland almost doubled United’s lead, but her efforts were fired at the Liverpool keeper.
Despite the dominance of United, the hosts are almost the same. The excellent shot by Ceri Holland was beautifully tipped by Phallon Tullis-Joyce who further contributed to her growing reputation as one of the best keepers in Europe.
The Red Devils fully benefited from the rescue of Tullis-Joyce and scored their second two minutes in extra time of the first half.
Terland explained the ball in the box and Ella Toone Gluwe Glachte in to put United under control over the competition.
Second half
United started the second half in the same spirit as the first and toone fired a speculative attempt from 35 meters, but she reduced her shot wide.
Liverpool reacted almost immediately and Cornelia Kapocs was one-on-one, but luckily she cut her lines and missed the target to maintain the two goal lead from United.
The hosts remained possession, but struggled to eliminate many real opportunities to threaten United’s defense.
Late later, Terland was slipped one-on-one, but she did not succeed in keeping her cool and shooting with the keeper.
The home team really had to score shortly thereafter, because Mia Enderby was left in the box in a lot of space, but her tame shot was easily claimed by the United keeper.
The visitors managed to hold and held a valuable clean leaf, because the victory temporarily brought them to the top of the ladies’ super league.
The competitions are not becoming easier for United, because they welcome challsea champion in the progress with United Stadium this Friday evening at 19:30 BST.
