Liverpool are reportedly ‘very interested’ in signing FC Midtjylland star Franculino Dju, according to transfer journalist Christian Falk.
After rising through SL Benfica’s youth system, the 21-year-old joined the Danish squad a few years ago. He has now established himself as a key starter and helped his side win the Superliga in his debut season.
In 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, the Guinea-Bissau international has scored 20 goals and registered three assists. Moreover, he guided his team in winning the title in the Danish Superliga.
Now, move on FC Bayern insider, Falk report that Liverpool, impressed by the youngster’s recent standout performances, are ‘very interested’ in signing him.
However, the Merseyside club are playing an ‘exciting poker game’ with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund over this deal as the German giants are also in this race.
The African is valued at around £19 million Transfer market and has a contract until 2029. Midtjylland is therefore in no hurry to sell him next year; But if clubs like Liverpool, Bayern Munich or Dortmund eventually formalize their interest, it would be difficult for the Danish side to keep hold of him.
Dju to Liverpool
The Reds decided to strengthen the front line last summer by signing Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. They spent around £330 million to sign the trio, with the Swede and German currently the two most expensive players in Premier League history.
However, Isak and Wirtz found it difficult to perform at their best this season. So it seems Liverpool don’t want to waste any time and have already made plans to sign a new striker.
Dju is a very talented player and is efficient in finishing his chances. Moreover, he is fast and has excellent ball movements in the penalty area. So he could be a smart signing for Liverpool looking to the long-term future, should they buy him.
However, it will be interesting to see if the Anfield club ultimately manages to secure his services in January or next summer by beating Bayern Munich and Dortmund in this race.
