Liverpool are keen to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck to strengthen their defense Ekrem Konur.
Strengthening the backline has become a clear priority for the Reds following their failed attempt to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace last summer.

There remains a realistic chance that the Merseyside team could target two centre-backs, especially after Giovanni Leoni, who was signed in the summer, suffered a serious injury almost immediately after his arrival.
Compounding the problem is that Ibrahima Konate’s performances have dropped significantly while Virgil van Dijk, now 34, is no longer at his peak, prompting the club to assess alternatives including Schlotterbeck.
The 1.80 meter tall colossus, which he values at £35 million Transfer markethas established himself as one of the standout centre-backs in the Bundesliga since joining Signal Iduna Park from Freiburg in 2022.
He has become a crucial defensive figure for Niko Kovač’s side, playing a key role in their impressive defensive performance this season after conceding just 12 goals – the second-fewest in the entire division.
According to WomenLiverpool are looking to strengthen their backline and are tracking Schlotterbeck as one of their centre-backs.
The Premier League champions are aware of the defender’s contractual impasse with Dortmund and are now monitoring the situation ahead of a potential transfer, the report said.
Schlotterbeck to Liverpool
Liverpool defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in their last Premier League appearance, meaning they now have back-to-back clean sheets following their previous 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Interestingly, Liverpool’s latest run of consecutive clean sheets also came after wins in both the league and the Champions League, with identical scores: first a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, followed by a 1-0 win against Real Madrid.
However, they lost their next three matches in all competitions, scoring just once and conceding at least three goals.
Arne Slot will hope the precedent is not repeated when they travel to north London on Saturday to take on Tottenham Hotspur, who have not won back-to-back home games in the Premier League since November 2024.
