Liverpool is said to keep Harvey Elliott this summer, even though he is open to allow him to join RB Leipzig.
The Reds do not seem to have much room for Elliott in their starting line at the moment, so it might be logical that the 22-year-old can continue.
Elliott did not fully meet expectations during his time at Anfield, but he is still young enough that he could turn his career somewhere else.
The international under-21 of England had long looked like someone with enormous potential, and Leipzig could be a good destination for his development.
Yet Ben Jacobs says that Liverpool would rather keep Elliott as a team player …
Liverpool’s preference is to keep Harvey Elliott. Leipzig is still working on a deal, but nothing was the agreed club-to-club from Thursday morning.
For the right price, Liverpool reluctantly will punish a sale because of the understanding of Elliott’s wish to start every week. Elliott anyway … pic.twitter.com/altfenejjn

Should Harvey Elliott fight for his place in Liverpool?
Elliott is clearly still appreciated by Liverpool, but is there really much reason for him to linger?
Liverpool has not given Elliott so many opportunities, and another season on the couch will certainly not appeal to him.
At the same time, Elliott’s time might bring with a little more patience, even if it is perhaps tempting to immediately play a key role at Leipzig.
Liverpool’s New Look team after the summer suspension of the summer
LFC introduced new signing sessions Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez this summer.
In the meantime, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have left and Elliott could be the next one, so Arne Slot could end with a completely different looking team than the one who won the Premier League title last season.
