Hugo Ekitike scored the winning goal when Liverpool conquered Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, but his night ended early when he was sent in Farcic conditions.
Liverpool defeated the Saints 2-1 in Anfield in a match where Alexander Isak saw his first goal since he moved to Merseyside in a record-breaking transfer of £ 125 million on the Deadline Day.
Isak opened the score at 43 minutes, before he was replaced by Ekitike during the break.
The Southampton championship made the Premier League champions sweat when Shea Charles equalized at 76 minutes after Liverpool could not be released from a corner.
But Ekitike scored the winner nine minutes later.
The goal was sublime. Andy Robertson opened Southampton open with a beautiful long -distance pass to Federico Chiesa, whose first touch was perfect. Chiesa then squared to Ekitike, leaving him a simple finish.
The celebration of Ekitike was ridiculous. Already on a yellow card he left referee Thomas Bramall without an option to send him away when he removed his shirt.
This was even more ridiculous when you consider that Ekitike’s first booking of the night had been to kick the ball away.
Liverpool Right back Jeremie Frimpong was not impressed by the recklessness of Ekitike and saw his teammate push in the chest just before the inevitable red card was shown.

The red card from Ekitike means that he will be suspended for the next domestic match of Liverpool, which will be gone on Saturday in Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Palace and Liverpool are the only Premier League teams that are still unbeaten this season in the English top flight.
With Ekitike exiled, Isak is now probably in Selhurst Park.

“What a crazy boy.” That was the verdict of the former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock, who commented on the game for ITV.
Many fans were much less polite.
One Reds supporter wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Absolutely Shamolic from Hugo Ekitike. An already hard game is just a lot harder without him. Unnecessary and so stupid.”
A second fan of Liverpool added: “can only assume that Ekitike forgot that he was yellow or did not think he would be booked for the celebration – stupid anyway.
“I bet he feels good in the dressing room right now – imagine that you ever and how you felt your most embarrassing moment, and then imagine that it had happened to 50,000 people who looked into the ground and millions elsewhere.”
A third fan called it the “stupidest red card I have seen”, while another tweeted: “Ekitike is a brilliant football player but what an idiot”.

Former Premier League winner Tim Sherwood saved on Ekitike Sky SportsSaying: “Can you believe it? Can you believe it? He takes a second yellow card for that? I would mess if I was Arne slot. What does he think? He has to know the rule.
“The easiest goal you will ever score, but how is your brain?”
Responding to Ekitike who removes his shirt to show writing on the back, Sherwood added: “We all know your name! There is absolutely no need to show that.
“Liverpool fans appreciate what he does. Now he is not going to play and whether Isak is ready to play or not … Ekitike has abandoned.”

Liverpool left back Robertson added in an interview after the game: “I will be very surprised if he does it again.
“Scoring a goal is always emotional and he is clearly just forgotten [about his first yellow card].
“His first is stupidity. Two crazy bookings and we miss him for Saturday. It is stupid of his part. He will learn from it and I am sure he will not do it anymore.”
