Liverpool are beginning to hint at Arne Slot’s selection for the Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace, with a change in starting goalkeeper all but confirmed.
Slot is expected to rotate his squad for the fourth round tie at Anfield on Wednesday evening and that could bring in a number of fringe and youth players.
One of his changes will see Freddie Woodman take the place of Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer, with the 28-year-old’s pre-match interview with Lfctv effectively confirming his involvement.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity that could present itself,” said Woodman, who joined on a free transfer from Preston.
“But at the end of the day, I have prepared and been ready for every game I have been involved in this season.
“Wednesday evening will be no different for me.”
Woodman added: “When I signed for this club, [I thought] if I could have gotten just one game; that was the dream, that was the ambition.
“So hopefully I can deliver on that on Wednesday night. But to get a result and get through to the next round – that’s the importance of the game and of course the importance of the competition.”
Trent Kone-Doherty expected to be in the squad

Another player set to enter the fray is 19-year-old winger Trent Kone-Doherty, who has once again been in excellent form as part of the U21s this season.
Kone-Doherty scored twice in the 5-4 win over Frankfurt in the UEFA Youth League last Wednesday before assisting Keyrol Figueroa’s second goal in the 4-1 defeat to Everton last weekend.
He was another who spoke to LFCTV ahead of the match to give a clear indication that he will be involved.
“I think I’ve definitely developed [by being around the first team]”, explained the Irishman, who made his debut last season as a substitute in the FA Cup defeat against Plymouth.
“Even when I first came, physically and all, I was nowhere near what I am now.

“Overall I definitely learned a lot from the coaches in the game and experiencing good players helped me a lot.
“The standards are very high, so you just want to keep up and try to show what you can do when you’re there [with the first team].
“And obviously these players are some of the best in the world, so they will keep the standards high; if you fall below them, they will let you know that you need to raise them.”
Slot declined the opportunity to hold a press conference on Tuesday to preview the match against Palace, but further indications about the players available for Liverpool are expected.
