Liverpool have been given a huge boost to beat Manchester United in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old has burst onto the scene after putting in impressive performances at the Red Bull Arena so far this season, scoring ten goals in all competitions.

After showing his qualities in club football, the youngster has secured his place in the starting line-up of the Ivory Coast national team, guiding his country to the quarter-finals of AFCON.
It’s been like that reported that after being impressed by his recent standout performances, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City have expressed an interest in signing him. Moreover, so is Manchester United said to consider a move for him too.
However, the player has now revealed that he is a Liverpool fan and wants to play at Anfield. His father’s dream is to see him play for the Merseyside club.
Diomande said:
“I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool.”
Diomande has a contract until 2030 after joining Germany last summer, and Leipzig reportedly have no intention of letting him leave for anything less than £87 million.
Diomande to Liverpool
After Luis Diaz left last summer, Liverpool currently have Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha as options on the left flank. However, Chiesa has been linked with a move away as she has struggled to find regular playing time since joining from Juventus last season.
On the other hand, Ngumoha is still a teenager and not yet ready to start regularly for a club like Liverpool. Gakpo, meanwhile, has played at centre-forward amid the injury absences of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike in recent times. Therefore, Florian Wirtz provides cover on the left, but is more comfortable centrally.
Diomande is a very talented player and has the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he would be a major coup for Liverpool if they were to buy him.
However, it will be interesting to see if the Anfield club ultimately manages to secure his services by beating other clubs in this race in January or next summer.
