A Tiktokmaker has unveiled a little-known smartphone function that could mean the difference between life and death.
In a video that has been placed on the platform, which has been viewed more than 333,600 times so far, the creator of the content demonstrated how to text to text to text 999 can save your life – especially if you are in a situation where you cannot speak.
‘Imagine that you are home alone and you suffocate in a piece of food and that you cannot breathe. How do you get help?, “Said Charlotte, a first-aid trained news maker.
“On my first aid course is the best hack I have learned, that you can text 999,” she added.
But here is the catch, only if you set it up for the crucial moment.
The service – which only takes a few seconds to become a member – has signed up for the Emergency SMS services from Relay UK.
According to health and safety officers, this can be vital in situations where a matter of minutes can be the difference between life and death.
It can enable someone who is only in an emergency situation if they are trapped and cannot talk freely on the telephone potentially life-saving police intervention or medical treatment quickly become.
She continued: “I didn’t know this, it is not a generally known.”
Registering for the potentially life -saving service takes less than a minute, she added.
Open the Messenger app on your phone and SMS ‘Register’ to 999 and then ‘yes’ to confirm when the service responds.
With this you can send a message 999 in the case of an emergency.
“To be honest, it felt scary to text the emergency number, but it can save your life and it works,” Charlotte added.
‘Take the stifling scenario, you probably have less than a minute before you lose oxygen. So text your address and if you have time, the word is probably stifling.
‘With fixed lines that go out of fashion, you are not guaranteed to get a response for just an empty 999 call.
“If you have not activated it, texts will not take place,” she warned her followers who encouraged someone to sign up for the service.
Charlotte explained that this service could possibly save your life if you are in an emergency situation where you cannot speak
However, Emergency Service officials warn that a user should not assume that in an emergency his message was received until they receive a response.
This usually takes about two minutes.
It is absolutely necessary to include which service you need – Police, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue or Coastguard – say the exact location of the emergency situation.
However, officials still encourage people in a dangerous situation that cannot speak safely to still call 999 and try to talk to the operator, even by whispering as the first point of action.
In this situation, a caller can be asked to cough or tap the keys on his phone to answer important questions.
It is because the worst areas of England for ambulance retractions were unveiled in the latest strip of NHS data.
The worrying statistics reveal a grim gap between NHS trusts throughout the country, with heart attacks and victims of strokes in the southwest forced to wait much longer than the national average.
Analysis of the latest NHS data found that one in 10 patients in March also waited for an hour and 16 minutes until paramedics came to warm emergency situations.

Nationally, the figure was 28 minutes and 34 seconds – just within the target of healthcare of 30 minutes.
Slow response times are fed by a catalog with factors, although transfer of transfer are one of the biggest problems.
Under NHS objectives are ambulance teams that arrive in A&E intended to complete all patient transfers within 15 minutes.
However, hundreds of transfer of transfer for up to half an hour or more are still included in almost any confidence in England.
Delays can occur because A&-Eenes are overwhelmed by many ambulances at the same time, as well as a lack of space in hospitals, partly to bed blockers.
