Former media power couple Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have emerged as the buyers of the $15 million penthouse in an eccentric castle-like complex.

Celebrity Lower North Shore couple Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have emerged as the $15 million buyers of a Mosman penthouse, which crowns the eccentric castle-like complex, Britannic Mansions.

The settlement paper filed last week showed they bought at the low end of the $15 million to $16.5 million price range in February.

The top floor in the 1910s block of six has a roof terrace with a teppanyaki barbecue, an open rooftop bathtub and city views.

The waterfront block has gardens, a grotto and a jetty.

With a heritage-protected sandstone facade and a striking turret with fortress-like battlements, the castle was built on Curraghbeena Point for Francis Cherry Willis and his wife Elizabeth, who operated the Brittanic Mansions guest house.

His brother, Federal MP Henry Willis, and his wife Annie built Innisfallen Castle in Castle Cove.

Britannic Mansions were converted into strata by real estate investor Andrew Best in the early 1980s.

Former The Project host Wilkinson and author FitzSimons bought the apartment from Susan and Mark Luby, the former CEO of building products supplier Alesco Corp.

With 530 square meters of indoor and outdoor living space, the Raglan St apartment last changed hands in 2003 for $2.85 million and has since been extensively modernised.

Their 3,214-square-metre estate in Cremorne, which includes a five-bedroom Arts & Crafts-era house, Ingleneuk, has not yet been settled, but it is believed to have sold for less than the seller’s offer of $24.5 million.

Westpac head of institutional banking Nell Hutton has been named as the buyer.

Hutton has been with Westpac for almost four years and was previously at Goldman Sachs.

Nell and husband Hamish own another historic property on the lower north coast, Dunaird, in Wollstonecraft, which they bought in 2020 for $9.2 million.

There’s no indication yet that the 1,900-square-foot California bungalow built for Sir Clifford Love, one of the founders of Uncle Tobys, will hit the open market.
