British and Irish Leeuw Scrum half Tomos Williams has seen his tour that ended due to a hamstring injury he arrested while scoring at the weekend, with Ben White van Scotland to replace him

Tomos Williams’ tour is over after just two games

Wales Scrum-Half Tomos Williams is excluded from the rest of the British & Irish Lions tour with a hamstring injury. Ben White, currently in Auckland with Scotland, has been called as a replacement and will jointly join the Lions in Brisbane.

Williams was injured in scoring his second attempt in the 54-7 victory over Western Force on Saturday in Perth and was a challenge for a test place, but his journey was completed.

Head coach Andy Farrell had not given any insight into the state of the Welshman in the immediate aftermath of the victory. He said: “He came off who held his hamstring. There was a lot of cramp last week, let’s hope it is one.

“Jamison is fit and already trains the best part of a week. We are happy with that, but you don’t know until you know and we will only know it in the morning. I have no idea. There is always something that will happen, you are not entirely certain, that is the nature of the Tour.”

Farrell has mentioned his side for Wednesday’s collision with the Reds and is stimulated by the return of Irish Duo Scrum-Half Jamison Gibson-Park and full-back Hugo Keenan.

Elsewhere, Tour Captain Maro Itoje returns to lead the side and Vlieg-Half Finn Russell supports his start against Force with another in Brisbane. Ollie Chessum, a replacement in Perth, partners Itoje in the second row and England -prop Will Stuart gets his first start of the trip.
