Linda Mushock has been a USTA League captain since 2009, which leads to consistency, passion and a deep dedication to her team and sport. Linda, Volunteering from the Pelican Marsh Tennis Center in Naples, Florida, has built an inheritance of Excellency and Cameradeship.

The recent performance of her team speak volumes. In November 2024 and again in April 2025, her Pelican Marsh Squad won the Usta Florida 65 & Upper sectional championship. In January 2025 they traveled to surprise, Arizona, for the USTA 65 & over National Invitational and reached the final. That marked their third trip to Nationals, where they previously finished 6th, 1st and now 2nd. They are already preparing for a fourth performance in January 2026.

Linda’s best tennis memory goes back to May 2015, when her team made his first trip to sectionals in Daytona Beach. With only six players available, each member played in every game and finished second. “I was so proud of these ladies,” said Linda. “Their dedication and hard work have paid off.”

Her colleagues greatly appreciate her and how she has formed the culture in Naples. “Linda is not just a game changer, she is a change of life,” they said. “Because of the condolences of Linda, Captain and Coaching, the Pelican swamp ladies have a unique bond of companionship over the years, who created each other emotionally and physically encourage each other with a Association of Trust and Loyalty.”

If she is not on the field, Linda remains active in her community. She volunteer in a local thrift store, follows spink classes, plays Canasta and loves reading.

What drives Linda to keep volunteering in tennis is the chance to influence the lives of others. “Over the years I have had the opportunity to supplement so many great women,” she said. “Great teamwork ensures that the dream work works. My proud moment as a captain is when one of my players is moved to the next level. It is so worthwhile to see them bloom and be recognized for their hard work.”

Usta Florida congratulates Linda Mushock for the appointed volunteer of the month of September. Her leadership, sportiness and dedication continue to inspire the people around her.
