Liam Rosenior: I would have booed Chelsea in the first half too

Liam Rosenior admitted he would have booed Chelsea for their first-half performance against West Ham United after their comeback win on Saturday night.

The Blues were met with deafening boos from the Stamford Bridge crowd at the half-time whistle, leaving the relegation-threatened Hammers two goals behind. Trevoh Chalobah and Robert Sanchez appeared to argue with supporters before entering the tunnel.

However, Chelsea completely turned the game around after the break and scored three goals through Joao Pedro, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez.

Rosenior thanked the supporters for the way they supported the team. “I have to say the fans were great in the second half,” the head coach said in his post-match press conference.

“They were right when they shouted. I would have booed us in the first half. Our performance was nowhere near the level it needed to be in terms of collectively, in terms of our energy and our decision-making.”

“To see them 45 minutes later, so happy and delighted with what they’ve seen from the team, makes me very proud. I said to the players at half-time, we can turn what is probably the worst feeling of the season into the best feeling of the season. And I think they went out and performed fantastically in the second half.”
