Ahead of a big weekend for MMA and the massive UFC 322 in New York City, Legacy Fighting Alliance was in action as LFA 222 took place in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
Vinicius Pires had claimed the promotion’s 135-pound title in March and was looking to defend his title for the first time against Kazakhstan’s Artem Belakh, a veteran of the ONE Championship.
A few more notable names graced the LFA 222 card, including Aline Pereira, sister of UFC champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira. After posting a 1-2 record to start her MMA career, Pereira had taken time off and jumped ship to Karate Combat, where she went 3-0 in three straight bouts and earned a title shot there. Now returning to the cage, Pereira would face ‘Bosnian Bombshell’ Nejra Repp in what could be a make-or-break fight for her career.
TUF 27 finalist Joe Giannetti, still only 30, was also in action on the evening’s main card, as was Bellator alumnus Nathan Ghareeb.
