We often go round to look up ex-Leicester players and loanees. A lot has happened in the past few years. You begin to wonder how the downfall could be as great as it has been.
With that in mind, Leicester could have conquered the world. The players who have played for this football club over the past ten years would have been more than capable of doing so.
Looking at the goalkeeper’s situation. Kasper Schmeichel is still performing at the highest level. Still number one for Denmark. Plays for Celtic and won the title in Scotland last season. Very involved in European games. Mads Hermansen would have been a good substitute.
In the back four, we believe Ricardo Pereira is the only player in the current squad who is in line for a first-team position. Wesley Fofana, Calvin Bassey and Harry Maguire would compete for two positions in central defence. Timothy Castagne and Ben Chilwell are players who would fit well at left-back.
N’Golo Kantè and Riyad Mahrez are still there and could easily have taken one of the four midfield positions. Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans are also players who could have filled that central midfield. Of course we will not forget James Maddison. Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman are contenders for the left side of midfield.
There is still a place available for Jamie Vardy up front. Chris Wood and Andrej Kramaric would have been contenders for a position up front. If you include Harry Kane and Jesse Lingard, not to mention Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was impressive at Everton. But we didn’t pick Kane and Lingard for the squad; they were only loaned for a short time.

This would have been a fantastic quality team. This could have been a team fighting for any title in the world. The problem was always clear. None of these players, with a few exceptions, couldn’t really imagine this happening. Ayoze Perez should also not be forgotten among those players, a real and good prospect. Jordan James would also be considered in this group. His performances for Leicester this season have been exceptional.
They did win the FA Cup. They also managed to win the Premier League. Of course it could have been repeated with this group of players. You have to pinch your arm. Bilal El Khannouss would not have made the selection.
