LeBron James fooled the NBA world earlier this week with his ‘Second Decision’.
Now he is being charged.
The Lakers star sent fans’ imaginations running wild when he teased the big announcement on Monday, leading some to believe he was ready to leave basketball behind after a legendary career.
Instead, James’ “Second Decision” turned out to be an advertisement for Hennessy.
And one Lakers fan isn’t happy about it.
Andrew Garcia, a lifelong fan of the Purple and Gold, is suing the NBA legend in small claims court for “fraud, deceit, misrepresentation and any and all bases for legal relief.” according to TMZ.
Garcia claims James owes him $865.66 after he bought tickets to the Lakers’ final game of the season against the Cavaliers, James’ former team, under the impression that King was about to announce his retirement from the NBA rather than running a marketing campaign for Hennessy.
“I wouldn’t have bought it if he didn’t retire. Plain and simple,” Garcia told TMZ.

James appeared to tease those who thought his retirement was imminent when he shared the advert on X, which included a wink, a tongue out emoji and a crown.
“Well, everyone in the whole country is working,” an unidentified man in the Hennesy ad says to James as he sits across from him on an empty basketball court. “Ready to go to LeBron? Where’s the powder?”
James laughed and said, “I left him at home,” referring to his pregame chalk-throwing ritual.
“Fans want to know where you’re going to take your talents this year? What’s your decision?” the man replied.
“Man, this is tough,” James said. “This fall I will take my talents to Hennessy VSOP… that was the conclusion I woke up with this morning.
“I feel like it’s going to give me the best chance to win at hosting, and not just that: win at signature cocktails, win at a good time, win at an impressive gamble, win at making memories, win at making it look easy, win at leaving people wanting more… I like my decision.”
The “Second Decision” was a reference to James’ infamous “Decision,” when he announced he was leaving the Cavaliers in the summer of 2010 and taking his talents to South Beach, where he won two championships with the Heat.
