A look at our seminar on pursuing performance: Dr. Raymond Prior comes to West Bend Country Club
The Wisconsin Golf Academy will host on Sunday, February 1, 2026 Our pursuit of performance seminar at West Bend Country Club – a half-day experience designed to help golf enthusiasts better understand how top performers think, practice and prepare at the highest level.
The seminar will be led by Dr. Raymond Prior, one of the world’s most respected voices in contemporary performance psychology. Dr. Prior works with PGA Tour champions, Olympic gold medalists and top performers in professional sports, business and the arts, helping them transform psychology into structured, repeatable systems for peak performance.
This isn’t about hype or motivation. The work of Dr. Prior focuses on practical frameworks that improve focus, resilience under pressure and long-term consistency – skills that translate directly to the golf course and everyday life.
Reserve your spot before February 1 by emailing Paul Mindel at paul@wisconsingolfacademy.com
Why this seminar is different
Most golf seminars focus almost exclusively on swing mechanics. While the golf swing is important, it is only one piece of the performance puzzle. The Our Pursuit of Performance Seminar is different in format and focuses on three critical areas that are often overlooked in conventional education: performance psychology, exercise, and golf-specific fitness and mobility.
Dr. Raymond Prior brings a rare depth of expertise in performance psychology, working with winners from every major professional golf tour, Olympic medalists, championship teams and elite organizations including the PGA Tour, NFL and MLB. A published researcher in the Journal of Applied Sports Psychology and the bestselling author of Wave beneath the surfacetranslates Dr. Prioritize psychology into practical, repeatable systems that golfers can rely on when the pressure is at its highest.

Together with Dr. Prior will present Paul Mindel, director of education at the Wisconsin Golf Academy, with The Science of Practice – an area he believes is widely misunderstood.
“I believe practice is one of the most misunderstood parts of the game. Although there is an abundance of information available on how to swing, most golfers are never taught how to practice effectively.”
– Paul Mindel, Wisconsin Golf Academy
Without the proper practice structure, mental skills or physical preparation, golfers often rely solely on their swing – an approach that rarely holds up during a challenging round.
The picture is completed by Dr. Casey Walter, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certified golf specialist and physical therapist, who will address mobility, strength, balance and coordination as the foundation for injury resistance and consistent performance.
“I have referred a number of my clients to Dr. Walter and have personally witnessed her level of expertise and care. Her goal is to help golfers play better and enjoy the game more.”
Together, these three perspectives create a comprehensive performance framework that extends far beyond mechanics, providing participants with tools they can immediately apply to the course and to everyday life.
My personal perspective
Last August I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Prior together with Paul Mindel, and what was most striking was how recognizable and grounded his approach felt. Despite working with the best artists in the world, his message consistently returned to simplicity: reducing tension, staying loose, and allowing preparation to emerge naturally rather than forcing results.
Many of the principles he shared then are things I still lean on when playing today: letting go of overthinking, swinging with the same freedom you feel on the court, and trusting the process rather than reacting to pressure. That mindset shift alone can be transformative for players at every level.

Additional presenters
Besides Dr. Prior, attendees will also learn from two highly respected experts:
- Paul Mindel, director of instruction for the Wisconsin Golf Academy, will present The science of practicewhich explains why the practice is often misunderstood and how you can train more effectively, not just more often.
- Dr. Casey Walter, TPI Golf Specialist and Physiotherapist, will discuss this The power of mobility for peak waveformwith an emphasis on injury resistance and physical preparedness.
