The Leapmotor A10 has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at this year’s Guangzhou Motor Show, with official images revealing it to be a compact SUV; given the name, it will be positioned below the C-segment B10, which went on sale in Malaysia earlier this week (estimated starting price from RM110,000).

If it were to be placed below the B10, it would mean the A10 is intended to be in the fringes of the B-segment SUV category, although Leapmotor has yet to officially reveal its exterior dimensions; according to Car news ChinaThis is expected to be close in size to the BYD Atto 2, which measures 4,310mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,675mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,620mm.

Within the Leapmotor product range, the A10 is expected to slot between the T03 and the Lafa 5/B05. In terms of styling, the A10 appears to get black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, while the larger C10 goes without. The A10 also uses slightly more conventional door handles, in contrast to the built-in units of the C10 and B05.

Details about the A10’s powertrain have not been revealed at this time, but for reference its bigger brother, the B10, gets a rear-mounted engine producing 177 hp and 175 Nm, or 218 hp/240 Nm in uprated form.

Versions of the B10 with a 56.2 kWh battery have a range of up to 510 km (CLTC), while versions with a larger 67.1 kWh battery have up to 600 km CLTC range (approximately 490 km WLTP). Given the positioning of the respective models, it can be expected that the A10 will offer smaller claimed numbers than that of the B10.

Of note is the bump on the A10’s roof, which hints at the presence of a LiDAR unit on the SUV, which in turn suggests it will be equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems. The A10’s interior has yet to be revealed, although it can be expected that key equipment will be similar to that of the larger B10, which gets a 14.6-inch central infotainment display and an 8.8-inch instrument display for the driver.

As regards the markets for right-hand drive vehicles, Coach reported that Leapmotor plans to have the C10 range extender and B05 join the B10, C10 and T03 in the UK. These will be joined by a B-segment crossover – likely the A10 – and another B-segment model that isn’t an SUV, according to the report.
