Nylander has been out of the Maple Leafs lineup since aggravating a groin injury against the Vegas Golden Knights on January 15. He previously missed six games due to the injury. The 29-year-old leads the Maple Leafs in scoring with 17 goals and 48 points.
“Hopefully he can get on the ice this weekend,” Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said after Friday’s 6-3 loss to the Golden Knights. “That’s what I hope. We’ll see where he is. I don’t really have an update on when he’ll play.”
Nick Alberga of The Leafs Nation reports that Joshua is close to returning after the Olympic break.
Joshua on the ice today before training. If all goes according to plan, he should be very close/ready for the start after the Olympic break.
More positive news on the Leafs injury front. Hearing that Dakota Joshua could return to skating before the Olympic break as he works his way back from a lacerated kidney. @TLNdc
“We got the momentum going and it doesn’t look like we carried the momentum into the third period,” Berube said. “That’s what I’m talking about. This team played in Boston last night, we had a chance to really put pressure on them here in the third period and keep the game going for 20 minutes.”
