FORT WASHINGTON, MD. — Tribbett Racing’s Layton Hanover maintained an extensive first-over grind before weathering a pair of late challenges en route to a 1:51.3 victory in Monday’s (Oct. 27) $12,000 Open Handicap Pace race at Rosecroft Raceway.
In line with Roger Plante Jr. Layton Hanover landed in fourth place behind a :26.3 first quarter before beginning his uncovered climb to Winbak Willy T (driven by Lucas Myers) approaching the :54.4 half. The two dueled past three-quarters in 1:22.3 before Layton Hanover took the lead heading home, and the 6-year-old Captaintreacherous-Livin Life gelding narrowly held off a pair of closers from runner-up RNB Band (Trae Porter) and third-place A Major Attitude (Justin Walters) to score his second straight win.
