Russian lawyer Andrei Kapustin, 32, known for helping victims of botched cosmetic surgery, died on the operating table during a hair transplant

A young lawyer known for winning compensation for victims of botched cosmetic surgery has died on the operating table during a hair transplant.

Andrei Kapustin, 32, a leading Russian lawyer, handled many high-profile civil cases, including claims from victims of botched cosmetic procedures. He reportedly paid £3,000 to a private clinic in Vladivostok, in the Russian Far East, for a hair transplant.

Shortly after receiving anesthesia, Mr. Kapustin’s condition “suddenly worsened” and he died on the operating table, according to local reports. Prior to his hair transplant, he reportedly underwent examinations, blood tests and an electrocardiogram.

He was advised not to drink alcohol or smoke, local media report. According to Zolotoy Most, the Russian Investigative Committee is investigating the cause of death.

Mr Kapustin is survived by his wife Alena, 33, also a lawyer specializing in medical matters, and their two-year-old daughter Katya. His devastated family and colleagues are reportedly considering legal action against the clinic.

Earlier this year, Mr Kapustin won around £10,000 in compensation for client Anastasia Kasyanchuk, 28, after she suffered complications following a ‘butt lift’. A court ruled that the procedure had caused an infection after fillers were injected into her buttocks with a long needle.

Photos presented in court showed the extent of the bruising and swelling. “After I got the abscess, it all leaked out,” Kasyanchuk reportedly said in court. “It turned out that the hyaluronic acid was of low quality and was not certified in any way.”

Ms Kapustin said she paid £3,000 for the butt lift procedure. Mr Kapustin argued at the time: “It is clear that there is no licence, no medical documentation, no consent and no information about the possible consequences.”

The medic, identified as Dr. F, was ordered to pay compensation to Ms Kasyanchuk for the injections, the costs of “repairing” the damage and “moral damages”.
