The law faculty teaches them with a laurel grant

They made it easy for the law school early, and the result was a blow late.

Under Martin Chuan, the Jamie Ness-trained filly broke alertly from post 2, secured inside position and was allowed to settle comfortably while saving ground. She waited patiently around the far bend before being spotted at the top of the stretch, where she quickly opened up with authority.

Once asked for her run, Law School pulled away in impressive fashion, scoring in 1:47.24 over 1 1/16 miles on a fast main track. War Madam, who chased down the rail from the start under Kevin Gomez, chased willingly but could not stay with the winner through the track and finished clear in second. God I Need a Favor stalked three wide early and was run four wide in the far turn, but fell flat late while still holding third.
The law school handed out fractions of 23.88 seconds for the quarter, 48.68 for half and 1:14.14 for three quarters. She extended her lead by more than a dozen lengths in the final 5/16 miles.
“When I visited her on the three-eighths, I had a lot of horse,” said winning rider Martin Chuan. “Easy win for her.”
Favorite Miss Fulton Gal was clumsily away and made little impression, finishing fourth, with Astrid and Creative Stuff completing the order of finish.
The law school impressively broke her maiden by a dozen lengths when she first asked Parx in August. But four successive attempts at the benefits society had earned her only a second and a third. The last time she went out, when she completed a one-turn mile at Laurel, she picked up the pace and took over in the late stages, but couldn’t keep it up.
“She broke really well today,” Chuan said. “She felt good the last time in the mile and a half, but I think the two corners are better for her. She relaxes a bit.”
Law School, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Mitole out of the winning Closing Argument mare Argue My Case, now has two wins from six starts and earnings of more than $74,000 for owners Super C Racing, Inc. and Jagger, Inc.
Law School paid $4.40 to win and topped an exacta, with 29-1 War Madam in second, returning $20 for a one dollar bet.
