Sad news from the Brewers farm system:

Last Friday, Brewers pitcher Frank Cairone, a 6-foot-1 left-hander selected No. 68 overall by the Brewers in the 2025 draft, was involved in a car accident near his hometown in New Jersey. According to local police, the crash occurred after a driver blew through a stop sign and hit Cairone. girlfriend was also injured in the accident. According to the Brewers organization, Cairone is “currently receiving care at a hospital in New Jersey with the support of his family.”

Brewers GM Matt Arnold says Cairone is “making positive progress” and that the “reports (they’ve been getting) are good.” Arnold also added that “regional scouting coordinator Steve Ditrolio – who signed Cairone – is assisting the family in every way possible on behalf of the organization.” Furthermore, the organization has not released much information.

There has been a poster on the Brewer Fanatic forums posting updatessupposedly from someone ‘very close’ to Cairone. According to that source, doctors expect Cairone “to make a full recovery, it will just take time. He is already walking along, breathing on his own and moving a lot. He also started to open his eyes a little bit.” Last night, another update was posted showing Cairone standing up for the first time, among other signs of progress.

Clearly, all these updates indicate that Cairone’s injuries are quite serious. I could go on and on about what a promising pitcher he is, but – as I wrote yesterday – some things are bigger than baseball. All I want to say is that I hope he makes a quick and full recovery and can be back on the field soon.

This article will be updated with more news as it appears.
