New Delhi, July 25, 2025: The Indian Hen’s Hockey team will tour Australia in August for a series of four games, which will be held in the Perth Hockey Stadium from 15 to 21 August. The series promises to be a very competitive match, with an eighth ranking in India that takes on sixth place in Australia. The matches are played on 15, 16, 19 and 21 August.
The two parties recently faced each other in the FIH Pro League 2024-25 in Europe, where Australia defeated India 3-2 in both feet. However, India had previously achieved a memorable 3-2 victory at the Kookaburras at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 -their first Olympic victory over Australia since the Munich matches in 1972.
While recent encounters have been fought closely, Australia has historically gave the lead in rivalry, with 35 of the 51 games being played between the two teams since 2013. India has won nine times, with seven games that end in draws.
The series will serve as an important preparation for India prior to the Hero Asia Cup 2025, which will be held in Rajgir from 29 August to 7 September. The tournament offers a direct qualification place for the Fih Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026, making the Australia Tour an important milestone in the construction of India.
During the Tour, the head coach Craig Fulton of the Indian Hockey Team Craig Fulton said: “This tour comes at a crucial moment for us, just before the Hero Asia Cup in Bihar. Although these are technically friendly matches, they are a very important part of our preparation phase – playing against a team like a team in Australia – in all aspects – In all aspects – in all aspects – on the ball – and that is exactly what we should sharpen for a large tournament. “
“We have just completed a 10-day training block, and the mood in the camp is cheerful, because we are fully focused on what awaits us. One of our most important goals on this tour is to use the first two games for selection purposes, while the remaining games are played with the shortlist Squad for the Asia Cup.
