Last home game of 2025 at Canada Life Centre: game day Edmonton Oilers vs. Winnipeg Jets

Tonight the Jets play their last home game at the Canada Life Center in 2025. The Jets suffered their second consecutive 4-3 OT loss to the Wild on Saturday. This time the Jets had the lead but lost it in the final minute before losing in the first minute of overtime. One of the Pacific Divisions’ best teams, the Edmonton Oilers, travels to Winnipeg, currently on a solid 6-3-1 streak in their last ten games. Meanwhile, the Jets are a disappointing 2-5-3 in their last 10 games.

The still 30th overall 15-17-4 Winnipeg Jets and now 13th overall 19-14-6 Oilers will clash this Monday night on Amazon Prime, with these two teams moving in different directions. We’re approaching the halfway point of the season and there’s still not much difference between the “good” and the “bad” teams when it comes to NHL league standings.

The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers have already met once this regular season, in Edmonton on December 6. The Jets lost that game 6-2, and after tonight the season series will also conclude on January 8 in Winnipeg. The Jets are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games against the Oilers, with most games ending as high-scoring games.

The injury report for the Winnipeg Jets now has one key name: Josh Morrissey. During the game against the Wild, Morrissey was hit from behind and is listed as “day-to-day” with an undisclosed injury. The Oilers still have some injury issues, with four players listed on their injury report. All four injuries appear to be short-lived; Kasperi Kapanen, Jake Walman, Tristan Jarry and Connor Clattenburg are all expected to return to the lineup before January 6.

Jets projected lineup

Connor–Scheifele–Vilardi

Perfetti – deputy – Iafallo

Barron-Lowry-Pearson

Niederreiter-Toews-Nyquist

Fleury-DeMelo

Samberg – Pionk

Stanley Schenn

Hellebuyck

Comrie

The unconfirmed starting goalkeeper is again Connor Hellebuyck, who continues to get the nod in goal. After Hellebuyck’s most recent start, he now has a record of 9-8-3 with a GAA of 2.55 and an SV% of 0.908. The rest of the Jets lineup appears largely unchanged, with the exception of Haydn Fleury in Josh Morrissey’s spot and Luke Schenn on the third pair where Colin Miller previously played. As usual, some lineup changes may be announced by the Jets prior to the game, so keep an eye on the Jets official X/Twitter account for any late additions or changes to the lineup before the puck drops.

Oilers projected lineup

Nugent-Hopkins–McDavid–Hyman

Podkolzin – Draisaitl – Savoie

Frederic – Roslović – Janmark

Mangiapane – Henrique – Lazar

Ekholm–Bouchard

Nurse – Regula

Stastney-Emberson

Pickard

Ingram

The Oilers lineup has some notable players with injuries, but there are still several young talents and some newer additions to the lineup that continue to adapt to their new roles. Looking at the Oilers player stats through 39 games, Connor McDavid leads the way with a league lead of 68 points. Calvin Pickard is the unconfirmed starting goalkeeper. Pickard hasn’t started as many games as he would like so far this season, but he has struggled behind Stuart Skinner and now Tristan Jarry. Connor Ingram will share the start with Pickard while Jarry is out, and Pickard has a 3-5-2 record with a 3.92 GAA, 0 shutouts and an .861 SV%.

Jets player to watch: Adam Lowry

The captain of each team is the player to watch tonight. Adam Lowry hasn’t had his best season in 2025-26 and has struggled to get back to full form after his offseason surgery. In 24 games, Lowry has just 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points. The scoring isn’t there yet for Lowry, but if you pay close attention to the little things he does, Lowry excels at things that most people won’t notice. Lowry remains a leader on this team, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his scoring touch back to help the Jets with some much-needed depth scoring.

Oilers player to watch: Connor McDavid

Connor McDavid is unstoppable at this point, one can only hope that you can limit him from being as elitist as he always is. In the last 5 games, McDavid has 12 points and now leads the league with 68 points. Whenever McDavid is on the ice, the Oilers seem to find a way to create opportunities on offense. The Jets will obviously also have to pay attention to McDavid’s speed so they have someone who can control him when he brings the puck in in a hurry. Keep an eye on McDavid tonight as the Jets try to slow down the league’s top player in the 2025-2026 season.

The Winnipeg Puck Drop is scheduled for just after 6:30 PM CST. Tonight’s game will be the Jets’ second-to-last game of 2025, so they’ll be looking to end their year with two wins, starting tonight against another tough opponent. Stay tuned here to Jets Nation for a recap of the action as the Jets look to win this Central Division matchup.
