Landry Shamet exits scary Knicks scene with a shoulder injury

ORLANDO — Not again.

Landry Shamet’s right shoulder appeared to dislocate in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Magic, similar to the dislocation that sidelined the guard for months last season.

Shamet, who had his best performance with the Knicks — including a 36-point performance last Thursday at MSG — ran into a hard screen from Orlando center Wendell Carter Jr.

The blow appeared to dislocate Shamet’s shoulder, sending the 28-year-old darting to the locker room while holding his arm.

He was ruled out by the Knicks with a right shoulder injury.

During the preseason just over a year ago, Shamet suffered his first injury to his shooting shoulder, but opted for rehab instead of surgery.

He returned in December and played the remainder of last season with the Knicks before becoming a key part of the rotation this season – even starting six games due to injuries.

Dislocated shoulders are prone to re-injury without surgery, which would likely have sidelined Shamet for six months.

Shamet is playing this season on a contract that doesn’t become fully guaranteed until January.

The Knicks were already missing forward OG Anunoby due to a hamstring injury.

Without Shamet, Knicks coach Mike Brown gave more first quarter minutes to rookie Mohamed Diawara.
