LA 2028 Organizers have planned competitions at the Olympic cricket tournament to start at 9:00 am to provide a lucrative television audience in India.
One of the most important factors behind the return of cricket to the Games After an interruption of 128 years is the wish of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to tap a lucrative South Asian media rights and sponsor market.
The T20 tournament with six teams, with both men’s and DameS teams, starts on Wednesday, July 12 – two days before the opening ceremony – with all competitions at a location that will be built on the stock exchange ground in Pomona.
Two games will be played daily in Pomona – 30 miles from the village of the athletes in Los Angeles – starting at 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
Those competitions are shown at 9:30 PM and 07:00 India Standard Time (17:00 and 02:30 British summer time).
The evening games on the ground in Pomona are played among spotlights.
Kit McConnell, who supervised the return of Cricket to the competitions after a 128-year-old interruption as sports director of the IOC, said BBC Sport organizers told “Core cricket markets in the subcontinent” in planning the tournament.
“The vision that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has sketched for us is aimed at offering the best players and the best teams on the Olympic phase,” said McConnell.
“There is still three years to go, but now we are very enthusiastic about where cricket is, what it will bring for the games and also what the Olympic Games can offer to cricket and also the global expansion.”
