Kyoji Horiguchi isn’t worried about a possible postponed UFC title shot

MMA veteran Kyoji Horiguchi isn’t worried about potentially having to wait for a shot at the UFC flyweight championship.

When it comes to the smaller weight classes, few current fighters are as respected as Kyoji Horiguchi. In addition to his first appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he also had an incredible stint away from the promotion. Now that he’s back, he really wants to do everything he can to become a UFC champion, and that goal will be a lot more realistic if he can beat Amir Albazi this weekend.

Horiguchi may be in the twilight of his career in the eyes of many, but in his last outing he still looked sharp and still seemed like a fighter who could cause problems for many of the top guys at 125 pounds.

In his pre-fight media bash, Horiguchi had the following to say about the current issues at the top of the flyweight division.

Horiguchi discusses possible future title shot

“I don’t care,” Horiguchi responded with a laugh when asked during media day of UFC Fight Night 266 if he’s concerned about delaying his potential title shot.

“Of course he can do it (Pantoja), or I get the belt quickly, and then he challenges me. That’s a good story. That’s what I want to do.”

“Which one is the strongest? Which one is the best in the world at flyweight?” Horiguchi said. “It’s a bit fake in training, that’s why I want to show everyone who is the best.”
