Karun Nair to replace Shardul Thakur in India’s Playing XI for the 5th test
According to the Indian Express, Karun Nair is expected to return to the game of India for the fifth test against England. He will replace Tempo-Bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
Nair, who could be seen in the first three tests of the series, was dropped for the Manchester match. He had a modest run and scored 131 points in six innings on an average of 21.83, with a top score of 40.
Sai Sudharsan took the number 3 place in Manchester and scored 61 in the first innings but fell in the second for a golden duck. Nair will probably slick in at No. 5, while Dhruv Jurel Rishabh Pant is expected to replace. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar can hit the positions no. 7 and no. 8.
In the meantime, the place of Shardul Thakur came with doubt after an overwhelming version with the ball. He only took two wickets over two games on an average of 72. In the Manchester test he bent 11 overs without taking a wicket and scored 41 points.
Kuldeep Yadav to be overlooked again for the 5th test at the oval
The report added that India is expected to change their pace unit, where Jasprit Bumrah and Anshul Kamboj will probably be replaced by Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna. Mohammed Siraj will lead the attack in the absence of Bumrah.
Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh will end the Tour without appearing in one match. Kuldeep will miss again because of the pitch conditions that prefer seam, with a green surface at the oval. This has also enabled India to further strengthen their Batting-Line-Up.
Siraj, who made an impression while he led the pace attack in Birmingham when Bumrah was equipped, will again bear the responsibility in the series decision maker. India had won a 335 run victory in the second test.
Jasprit Bumrah missed the last test because BCCI gives priority to long -term fitness
Shubman Gill kept from confirming the participation of Jasprit Bumrah to the fifth and final test against England. The Pacer will not be available for the competition in the oval.
In particular, the BCCI-Medical Team Bumrah advised to go outside as a precautionary measure to protect its back, with a focus on his fitness and workload management in the long term.
Bumrah has been an important performer in the Anderson-Detulkar trophy of 2025. He is the highest wicket task in the series. The Pacer has taken 14 wickets in just three games at an average of 26, including two five-wicket distance.
