Rehabilitation works for the Klang Valley Electrified Double Track Phase 2 (KVDT2) project, especially the Subang Jaya to Klang section, are expected to be completed by the end of March, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said. Named.

This section of the railway is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year, although the entire second phase of the railway, which extends to Seremban, will take a few more years, Loke said.

“Currently, trains only run in one direction from Klang to KL Sentral during the morning rush hour because data shows that 90% of passengers travel from Klang to Kuala Lumpur for work during these hours, and not the other way around. Previously, the train frequency was higher than an hour because the services had to run in both directions. Based on the data collected, we found that the number of passengers in the opposite direction was very low, so we implemented one-way traffic during rush hour,” he said.

Under the current arrangement, the KTM Komuter service from Klang to KL Sentral currently operates at 30-minute intervals during the morning peak, with six trips until about 9am, after which the service will be suspended until 4pm to allow construction work to continue, the Transport Minister said.

The service will run in the opposite direction from KL Sentral to Klang in the evening as passenger movements in this direction are higher after office hours, he added. “The whole idea is to speed up the construction process so that the project can be completed faster,” Loke said.
