Delhi’s Kshitij Nveed Kaul jerked the victory with a late flowering at the RS 1 crore Kolar open driven by Zion Hills on Friday.
Kaul (74-69-71-65), Fifth Night Six shots of the lead, organized a stunning charge over the last 18 holes with a 7-year-old tournament, the PGTI said.
Kaul’s Run was emphasized by three Birdies and an eagle on the last four holes that brought his total to 9 under 279 and gave him a two-shot victory despite Wind Speeds Inn-Overmaat of 30 kmh.
It was the fifth professional victory of the 24-year-old and the RS 15 Lakh Check-Check of the day pushed him five places to eighth place in the PGTI order of merit with a total income of RS 48.00.847.
Shaurya Bhattacharya (70-72-66-73), another professional-based professional and overnight leader through three shots, placed a closing 73 to complete second place at 7 under 281.
He climbed four places to the sixth in the PGTI order of merit.
Gurgaon’s Dhruv Sheoran (67) signed in third place at 4 under 284.
Slip away
Pune’s Udayan Mane, who set the 67 course record in round two, bought a 74 in the fourth round to close the week in Tied Fourth on 3 under 285.
Honey Baisoya (72) of the DLF Golf & Country Club was in fourth place next to Mane.
Nepal’s Subash Tamang, who played at his home job this week, finished sixth on 2 under 286.
Kaul informed his intentions early with a number of fantastic discs and Wigpleel to pick up four shots on the first six holes.
He underwent a tough rack with three straight bogeys from seven to the ninth as a result of finding water ever and missing a few short puts.
After draining a birdie at 10“ Kaul, who last won in November 2024 with a dream finish.
He sank a few long Vogeltjaars students on 15 and 16 and followed a chip-in for Birdie on 17 and a gigantic 30-foot eagle conversion on 18.
With his putter who was hot, Kaul turned the tables on Bhattacharya, the leader for most of the day, right at the end.
With the desired lie rule in the game, Kaul’s 65 did not count as a course record.
Patient
“I stayed patient all day and concentrated on making quality shots. All aspects of my game were sharp this week, especially driving and placing,” Kaul said later.
“All the work that was done in the low season seems to be bearing fruit. It is nice to win in difficult circumstances like this. It all makes the victory more satisfying.
“In the last part I just tried to hit one good shot after the other. The wind made it very challenging to control the distance and distribution of the ball.
“But I knew that if I kept producing good photos, I would finally get through.”
Bhattacharya made three birdies and three bogeys at the front nine to keep his lead.
However, he stumbled with three bogeys between 11 and 15, after which he could not recover despite two birdies on the last three holes.
