According to a report from Anthony Slater on Monday, February 23, Kristaps Porzingis will likely miss the Golden State Warriors’ upcoming road games in New Orleans and Memphis.
Porzingis did not travel with the team, while Draymond Green made the trip, indicating the center’s absence is illness-related.
The 30-year-old forward joined the Warriors at the trade deadline from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. He played just one game for Golden State this season, logging 17 minutes and scoring 12 points.
Golden State (29-27) enters a back-to-back set with the Pelicans and Grizzlies and needs consistent contributions as the Western Conference playoff race tightens. The Warriors are currently eighth in the West, with a 4-6 record in their last ten games.
The team’s rotation will likely rely more heavily on Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody and Al Horford in Porzingis’ absence. Podziemski averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 27 minutes per game, while Moody added 11.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Golden State’s next game in New Orleans is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, followed by a Wednesday, February 25 game in Memphis. Both games are critical to maintaining positioning near the playoff cutoff in the competitive Western Conference.
