Kone Pearson talks 212 Olympia Defense and Open Debut Plans on ‘The Menace Podcast’ – Muscle & Fitness

On episode 251 from The threat podcast, Host Dennis James was accompanied by his regular panel members Milos Sarcev and Chris Cormier, together with special guest and 212 Olympia champion, Kone Pearson. “The Prodigy” will defend his 212 title in Vegas within a few days, but has also announced his approaching open debut.

Host Dennis James has long had the feeling that Pearson, originally competed on the classic stage in Olympia, found enormous success after moving to the 212 category, should go to the open air. Yet that is a big decision to make, because Pearson Back-to-Back won 212 trophies in 2023 and 2024 and this year is looking for his championship in Las Vegas.

“You no longer look like a 212 man,” Dennis James joked. “Maybe I am not 212,” replied the prodigy, which eventually announced earlier this month that he would go to the opening on the 2025 Prague Pro on 25-26 October. “Only one of those things you are ready to tell the whole world, but even for myself I couldn’t tell a sole,” Pearson of the process explained. “Why?” Chris Cormier asked. “It has been talking about it for two years now.” I am talking about possibly opening, but I did not say when, “the prodigy answered and noticed that an inheritance in the 212 division is extremely important to him.

Would Kone ‘The Prodigy’ Pearson open the Olympia in 2026?

“At least let me know, when did you decide to … open in 2025?” James asked. “It was in July,” said Pearson, in which he explained that the appearance of Chris Bumstead in the Prague Prague 2024 had motivated him to go for it. “I had something like that, I think this would be a really good, two -day peak show for me to see how I do it in such a show.”

This is a smart strategy because the timing means that Pearson can compete in the 212 division in the Olympia and then enter Prague in Prague about 2 weeks later. His position will probably inquire about which category he strives for in 2026. Pearson also explained that participation in a two-day show in Prague would be a good practice to learn how to peak his body for the Olympia Open Division format.

James pointed out that if Pearson first places in Prague, he would be qualified for the Olympia Open Division 2026. “You would do the opening next year,” asked the threat. “Erm, that must be determined,” the prodigy answered.
