Jamie Carragher has questioned the form of Ibrahima Konate to start the season and criticize the Liverpool-Center-back as so far “everywhere”.

So far, Konate has struggled as part of a new-look defense this season, with a considerably less certainty in his ability to defend large spaces and to stop counterattacks.

Speak as part of Sky Sports’The reporting of Monday’s 3-2 victory in Newcastle, Charragher criticized the role of no. 5 in the equalizer of William Osula for 2-2 and its versions in general.

That goal came from a free kick in Newcastle, raised to Nick Pope’s box, with Konate beaten in the air Dan Burn.

“There are people for Liverpool who have made a really bad start to the season. Mo Salah is one of them, although he scored and got an assist,” Carragher began.

“Konate is another one. He has been everywhere.

“You want your center-back to win that header [for Newcastle‘s second goal]. He is declining, but he still has to deal with that.

“It felt like it would come. You can’t deny that, Newcastle earned it.

“I want my center back to win that. He was everywhere last week, he is more interested in grabbing [Dan Burn’s] Arm, he was really poor in the first half.

“He is not at all on the races and I absolutely shiver to think where Liverpool would be without Virgil van Dijk, who was absolutely excellent in those games.”

Konate came in the summer with uncertainty during his long -term future in Liverpool and that has not changed despite constant conversations about his contract.

The Frenchman is a target for Real Madrid, who hope to sign him for a free transfer in 2026, and with a deal for Marc Guehi that is being pursued, it seems as if there could be a follow -up plan.

Liverpool will still hope to bind Konate to a new deal, but his performances in the opening matches of this season have not helped the perception.

A big shift in the setup cannot help, play with Konate so far in addition to Jeremie Frimpong, Wataru Endo, Joe Gomez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Conor Bradley on right back over two games.

But Carragher is right to be critical about his form, especially at a time when his representatives are reportedly looking for a wage increase up to around £ 200,000 a week.
