Manchester City has confirmed the permanent appointment of Kolo Toure to the back room staff of Pep Guardiola.

City confirmed the appointment in a statement on Tuesday.

“After performing the role of First Team Assistant Coach during the FIFA Club World Cup campaign of the club this summer, the 44-year-old will remain in position full-time,” City said.

“It comes after the Ivorian Die helped both Arsenal and City with the success of Premier League during an illustrious play career compan of a huge successful season that served as an assistant head coach at the last term of the city under the age of 18.

“Working together with head coach Oliver Reiss, the former ivory coastal defender helped the Stadsjongeren to drive to the Premier League Under-18 North Title, our under 18 years now nowhere with Aston Villa in the national final.

“In addition to Reiss, Toure also led the young blues to the FA Youth Cup final before we were brought to the trophy by Villa.

“Toure also has an extensive coaching experience away from City, after initially working with the Ivory Coast National Setup before spending time in both Glasgow Celtic and Leicester City as part of the Brendan Rodgers coaching team.

“Before he came to the City Academy Coaching setup, Kolo also put a short spell at Wigan Athletic.”
