Kobbie Mainoo’s position on United’s departure following Carrick’s arrival revealed – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Darren Fletcher handed Kobbie Mainoo his first start for Manchester United since August.

Mainoo teamed up with Manuel Ugarte against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup. United were on the losing side after a 2-1 draw, but the dynamic midfielder impressed with his courage in possession.

When Ruben Amorim was at the helm, Mainoo wanted to leave United after becoming frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. The departure of the Portuguese head coach has had little impact on Mainoo’s short-term plans.

Kobbie Mainoo could leave Manchester United under Michael Carrick

According to the Daily mailKobbie Mainoo remains as desperate as ever to play with the World Cup on the horizon.

As such, the England international is still said to be open to a move this month as his “opportunities will be limited” under Michael Carrick.

On Tuesday, United announced Carrick as head coach of the club until the end of the season.

It is understood that Mainoo has a “fragile” relationship with the United hierarchy due to their “inability to sign a new contract last year, making him one of the lowest-paid senior players in the squad.”

Napoli remains in the picture for his signature. As such, the 20-year-old has no desire to “hang around” at his boyhood club if the situation remains unchanged.

Kobbie Mainoo got into an argument with Ruben Amorim

Recently, The Peoples Person published a report claiming that Mainoo and Amorim had a ‘shouting match’ at Carrington towards the end of last season.

The United Academy product last played in the Premier League on May 11.

He requested to leave the Amorim squad last summer in favor of a move to Napoli. However, the Red Devils rejected his request.

It is unlikely that United will agree to a move in the winter transfer window without strengthening their midfield.
