Just moments after announcing that their star colt from the classic division, Sovereignty would return for the 2026 season, Godolphin showed how deep their stable of older horses will be in 2026 if Knights Bridge eventually scored his first stakes victory in the $150,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3) op Gulfstream Park December 27.

In a performance that made him look like a threat in the one-turn mile division moving forward, the son of Nyquist shot forward from his inner post, got heat from Excited And Super chow by fractions of :22.80 and :45.83, and opened up in the lane for a 4 3/4 length win.

Knightsbridge stopped the clock in 1:22.32 over 7 furlongs and paid $2.40 to win. Super Chow remained second and Wound Up third.

“He had a good break, a good trip. He was in the lead. They were decent breaks, and that helped him,” Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott told FanDuel TV’s Caton Bredar. “He finished very well. Hopefully there are more things to come for him.”

Knightsbridge has high hopes for his career since winning his first two starts by a total of 19 1/2 lengths. However, the homebred Godolphin only made his sixth start in the final days of his season for four-year-olds. He ran well in his only previous stakes start and finished in a dead heat for third in the 2024 Perryville Stakes (G3) after a seven-month layoff, being beaten by one length by Brunacini of Book them damages second. He entered Saturday’s stakes with an optional November 22 allowance and claimed victory Aqueduct racecoursewhich had been his first start in nine months.

Now that the colt is back on track, Mott said he plans to hint at graduated one-turn racing at Gulfstream in the near future. These options include the $175,000 Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3) on January 24 and the $200,000 Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G3) on February 28.

“He’s shown he loves the track, there’s a few different stakes we’d like to play in,” Mott said. ‘His half-brother, Speaker’s Corner, did very well in the stakes here. If he stays healthy and he’s doing well, we’ll bring him back here.”

Also from the unraced Bernardini mare Tyburn Brook , Speakers corner (Street feeling ) won both the Fred Hooper and Gulfstream Park Mile in 2022. Knightsbridge is the 12th winner this season for Nyquist, who will raise $175,000 at Darley near Lexington in 2026.

Moon Spun continues Lynch’s Hot Streak

Brian Lynch’s shed remained hot a race earlier Moon spun set the Gulfstream grounds on fire, making her stakes debut in the $100,000 Abundantia Stakes.

Despite being part of a controversial and fast pace of :21.54 and :43.73, the 4-year-old Town and Country Racing Hard spun filly had enough in the tank to fend off two-time rated stakes winner and all-time leading Arkansas-bred earner Get ice cream through a neck. Completing 5 furlongs in :55.33, the favored Moon Spun paid $5.80. Love calls came third.

The win was a 10th in the opening month of Gulfstream’s championship run for Lynch in just 22 starts. He is in third place in the rankings behind Saffie Joseph Jr. (13 wins) and Jose D’Angelo (12), both of whom have sent at least 60 runners to the post.
