Knicks weren’t concerned about Josh Hart catching up with an injury that would cause him to miss critical time

Josh Hart is methodically working his way back.

The Knicks guard still isn’t practicing with the team, but he has been getting some on-court work, coach Mike Brown said Sunday.

Hart has been dealing with back spasms and has not appeared in the past two preseason games.

The concern is that Hart will miss critical time while the Knicks learn a new system on both offense and defense.

“He’s practiced a few times and played in one game, so you have an idea of what you’re going to get from Josh,” Brown said. “But the hard part about it is that what we’re doing is new, and he hasn’t experienced it yet, so he’s a little bit behind in that regard.

“But he has a good feeling, has kept an eye on us enough, he should be able to jump in. He may be a few steps behind, but he should be able to catch up with the boys quickly.”

Brown was noncommittal about his plans for his starters for Monday’s game against the Wizards at the Garden.

“We still want to look at some guys,” the Knicks first-year coach said. “The more minutes I can get, the better it will be for us to make decisions, but I’m not 100 percent sure.”

Through three preseason games, the Knicks are averaging 44 three-point attempts.

Miles McBride believes it’s just a byproduct of the up-tempo, ball-moving style.

They attempted 57 and made 15 in the most recent game against the Timberwolves.

“I think it comes down to the more we play,” McBride said. “I think it’s the fast pace of the game, we drive, kick out for open 3s. Swing, swing drive again. I think it’s just ‘you’re open, you shoot it.'”
