The New York Knicks could use their last schedule to sign a former NBA champion in Thomas Bryant. The Knicks have already added Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele to upgrade their second unit.

Bryant, 28, would be an excellent addition to the Front Court of New York. The 6-foot-10 center was on average 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 56 games (eight starts) with the Indiana Pacers last season.

The Knicks currently have Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and the Second-year Center for Ariel Hukporti as their only available Big Man-depth. This could be a problem to make the play -offs of 2026 time.

Thomas Bryant would offer a great man insurance for Knicks

Bryant also played for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets, where he was part of the NBA Championship team of 2023.

New York should focus on the former second rounder because of its size and play-off experience.

“One position where the Knicks may want to consider heavily use this place for the middle place. Their current rotation consists of Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti, and when they start the double large line-up, this basically leaves them a backup five to start the year,” wrote Sny’s wrote David Vertsberger.

“They have interesting alternative options in the middle, such as newly signed Guerschon Yabusele slide along a position or playing OG-Anunoby there, and can always move Robinson back to the bank. Signing a depth-to-piece in the position such as Thomas Bryant gives them more security in the case of injuries.”

In Indiana’s 129-113 home victory on the Chicago Bulls On January 8, Bryant registered a season-high 22 points on 9-out-16 (56.3%) shooting from the field and 2-of-4 (50%) from outside the arc.

Bryant also played a crucial role in the Pacers that New York defeated during the Eastern Conference Finals last season.

After he had seen limited playing time earlier in the series, Bryant came from the bank in Game 6 to score 11 points and to dispose of three 3-Pointers in 13 minutes to help Indiana to reach his first NBA finals since 2000.

However, the Pacers lost in seven games of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

New York is still interested in Ben Simmons

The Knicks remain the front runners to sign unlimited free agent Ben Simmons. It is rumor that New York will offer an experienced minimum contract to the triple All-Star.

Last season, Simmons appeared in 51 total matches (24 Starts) divided between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers, an average of 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 22 minutes per match.

Dream Ian Begley Reported at the end of July that New York “strongly interested in signing Simmons while teams in Simmons are waiting for his decision” this summer.

“He has been interested in various teams in the competition. The Knicks are also interested in Landry Shamet for the latter schedule.”

Based on New York’s needs, Thomas would be the better signature.
