The New York Knicks face the challenge of filling in their schedule under a second consecutive season of the second apron. The Knicks has that ready to sign 2025 Second Round Pick Mohamed Diawara for a standard contract.
New York has to sign at least two players for standard contracts. The challenge is that the Knicks only have room to sign one veteran minimum deal and one rookie minimum deal. The warning is that the minimum deal of the Rookie must be for a player who has drawn up the knicks. The reason for this is that a unsigned rookie would count for the luxury tax and tax aprons for the minimum amount of two years.
New York led to a hard-apron hard cap by signing Guerschon Yabusele using the taxpayer Midden-Level Extorement.
With Malcolm Brogdon and Landry Shamet probably compete for the veteran minimum place, making the Rookie a minimum place to fill. That place apparently goes to Rookie Vooruit Diawara.
Last season the 6-foot-9 attacker played for Cholet in his native France. Diawara on average 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19.6 minutes per match. The then 19-year-old attacker appeared last season in 49 games for Cholet.
Just like last season, New York will manage the end of their bank all year round. The Knicks must ultimately have enough space to fill the schedule into a full amount of 15 players on standard contracts before the end of the regular season.
