Midfielder of England, Fran Kirby, has immediately announced her retirement of international football.

Kirby did not stand up in the team that crashed from the UEFA Women’s Nations League from 2025 after he had chosen to retire immediately after Sarina Wiegman had informed her that she would not occur in the ladies -16 July -on -the -Team in Switzerland.

In a statement of social media, the 31-year-old announced that she was ready to “close that chapter” in her football career

“After he had been in the team of England since I was 21, it’s time to close that chapter of my life.

“I never wanted to come this day, but I can’t tell you how proud I am that it happened. It has been the greatest honor to represent my country, one that I had only dreamed of like a young girl.

“I played with incredible players, worked with a number of incredible managers, played in a number of great tournaments and have some irreplaceable memories.

“My journey was full of ups and downs, setbacks and performance. Enough have been said and written about it, but regardless of what was thrown towards me, I want you to know that every time I set up that English badge, I gave 100 percent.

“Every call, I accepted my role and did what was needed for the team. I wanted England to win. I have always been there to help England win.”

Kirby went over the pride in reaching the dream of her deceased mother and the historic ladies -Titel Success on home floor in 2022, which she regards as ‘a dream come true’ for herself.

“My mother had a dream that I represented my country, and I am so proud that I could do it and play it all. I will never forget the sound when my name is read in a stadium. I was first selected when I played in WSL 2, I played a role in the Game Changing World Cup, making bronze in 2015.

“Starting in every match and winning the euro in 2022 was a dream come true, to be part of change in women’s football was one of the best experiences I could ever have imagined.

“Thanks to all of you, for embracing me as a young girl of reading who had a dream. I hope you know it all, wearing that badge was the greatest honor. For every young girl who suffers setbacks, then remember that you can. You can. You can. Forever a lioness, Fran.”

Wiegman praised Kirby for the fact that “… I had been an inspiration for many for what she achieved on and next to the field. I like to work with her, she is a great player and a great person.”

Boss, born in the Netherlands, also recognized Kirby’s reasons to withdraw from international football and spoke about her luck that Kirby will be able to concentrate on club football alone.

“I fully understand her decision to say goodbye on this point in her wonderful career, and we will always be grateful for her incredible contribution to the team.

“I am just happy that she will continue to show her top power in club football. Fran is a unique talent and plays football in a way that excites the fans and has earned the respect from everyone who has played with and against her. We will of course miss her and I will look forward to the chance to honor her in the right way this year.”

Kirby made her senior debut in 2014 and scored 19 goals in 77 performances, in which she was part of the UEFA-Ero-title-winning team of 2022 and the team that finished third at the FIFA World Cup 2015.

2021 saw Kirby Team GB represent at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she made two performances when the team finally left Australia in the quarterfinals.
